Welcome to the month of happy & merry 🙂 Love having a handmade Christmas? then these DIY Paper snowflakes are a must try 🙂
Its been quite sometime I hit this space thanks to my busy life schedule. Or rather my laziness to blog! In fact I have been creatively more active than my usual being away from blogging because honestly, lets face it blogging is a rewardless process. I put up a post, like today, I am drafting a post on how to make these DIY Paper snowflakes , thinking its going to be useful for people this Christmas, when in reality, its going to take another 4 years to actually draw some traction or worse, this post might never get enough views!
But social media – yes that is where I have been for sometime now, is very interactive and giving, that you never feel like wanting to blog for nameless unknown people. Honestly I felt for the trap but blogging has been my love along with crafting, so I want to make sure that I don’t wait till start of the new year to put up a resolution for active blogging 😛
Chit Chats apart, this is a very very easy DIY and I just followed the steps from Tifani Lyn, but used supplies that were available with me. So tag along and make few yourself 😉 Also feel free to browse through my previous Christmas crafts tutorials on this blog 🙂

How to make DIY Paper snowflakes :
Honestly this is the most sophisticated looking snowflake ornament that makes you feel like you need so much expertise and talent to pull out, which is what I thought when I pinned it on Pinterest but, this is really easy peasy!
Starting, cut out your papers into strips, preferably wider ones so that its easy to work and also hold without it slipping between your fingers. I took A4 size paper and cut them into strips of half inch width and along the width of the paper. Make set of petals first and then move on to assembling them into snowflakes as that way you save a lot of time and don’t break your “flow”.
I made a few white and blue snowflakes, some big and some small so just play around and find what size you want them to be. Fold your strip to match the edges together but make sure you don’t crease flat the bent area, you want that loop to look pretty curvy- this one this going to be the middle structure and you need to add similar ones to your left and right in a symmetrical fashion.
Make the next loop similarly and add to the left side of the 1st loop, but placed a little below.
Repeat the same procedure for say 2-3 numbers on either sides, and then put a staple pin to bring all together. I made snowflakes with 8 petals and so I made 8 of such similar figures and then attached them on to a paper strip roll with hot glue – Just make sure you leave a bit of time for the glue to dry between each petal so that your snowflake isn’t wobbly and fragile!.
Time to add some personal touch and thats purely based on your creativity and style. I was hoping for a quite fuss free minimal snowflake so for a few of them I went ahead and painted the edges gold, for a few I put in glitter at the outside and a few I put up sequins & stuff. Just grab whatever you have to embellish and do your thing 🙂
Yeas purely as simple as that!
I already have tonnes of ornaments for my tree so instead if using them on the tree, I make a pretty garland to hang around. We don’t have the concept of snow and winter here in the south of India and I am really tired of answering Grace’s question of whether snowman is going to come this Christmas 😛 ( she is more interested in snowman than Santa!) – so here is a pretty creative way to bring some snow in your otherwise humid tropical life 😉
