Pen holders are the easiest things at home that we can DIY through an upcycle project! I made this tin can pen holder or rather a washi tape holder ( I actually have excess of penholders!) from a milkmaid tin can. This upcycled tin can pen holder is very easy and hardly takes even a minute! Read on to know how I made them 🙂

Materials required to make the upcycled Tin can pen holder

• Tin can ( plain surfaced )
• Washi tape of your choice ( I used gold glitter washi tape )
• Glue
• Scissors

Step by step procedure to make an Upcycled tin can pen holder

This upcycle project is very simple and can be a kids activity for summer 🙂 The tin can already is a penholder but a little facelift makes it really pretty!

Your first work will be to clean the surface of the tin can to be upcycled and dry it well.The opening portion of the can need to be completely removed and inside to be cleaned well.

Take your washi tape and start pasting them in circular manner making rings from top to bottom or vice versa. You washi tape end should be cut perpendicular to the lenght before you start pasting so that ends do not overlap creating layered effect. Once you complete one ring of washi tape, start the next ring by placing it really close to the previous line.

My washi tape is generally being played with by my daughter so its egdes have collected some dust and dirt and hence I had to overlap my rings to avoid visible dark edges.

 

Washi tapes are generally not that sticky especially on metallic surface so my advice would be to add a little glue here and there to adhere them properly to the surface.

Doesnt it look pretty with all the glitter? I loved it so much that I changed my initial plans covering one with moroccan patterned washi tape and made it glittery as well 😛
